In the role of associate scientist with a background in organic chemistry, you will support sites around the world in their technical processes. Those technical processes ultimately form medicines that humanity uses every day and enables people to have healthier, better and more enjoyable lives.

Together with your fellow colleagues and under the guidance of the senior scientists, you follow studies and perform experiments. For this purpose, you will use multiple techniques under the correct guidelines and procedures.
In addition, you will perform routine laboratory work, such as stocking, cleaning, maintaining and keeping the laboratory safe.
There is also the opportunity to participate in various project teams, for example, you will be given the space to write technical reports or be a co-author. This depends on your experience and expertise.

Your core responsibilities listed below:

  • Apply basic scientific principles to development, demonstrating competence in basic research methods associated with established protocols. Know practical aspects and basic principles of technology and apply them to laboratory work. Is capable of characterizing products by scientific techniques (e.g. spectral means) with supervision. Draw straightforward conclusions from technical data and solve straightforward problems. Supervisor or technical staff provides frequent direction for problem solving, as well as technical references and resources.
  • Optimize laboratory operations for efficient use of time and laboratory supplies/reagents. Execute assigned tasks and utilize technical and theoretical understanding of several techniques to complete assigned tasks. Apply quantitative methods, analyze data, evaluate results, form conclusions, and
    provide/implement process or document improvements. Understand and follow documented procedures; provide input for personal process/documentation improvements. Broaden technical and theoretical understanding by utilizing scientific (e.g., journals) and industry (e.g., FDA updates) literature to better understand the scientific purpose of assignments.
  • Communicate at the internal group, section, and department levels as needed (i.e. monthly reports, trip reports, project updates, 1:1’s, update presentations, daily shift reports). Correlate and verify ideas through experimentation. Interact with other groups and share information, participate in team activities and participate in project teams. Communicate with clients about analytical data from various sources to demonstrate how the data meets the client’s needs and timeline for analytical projects.
  • Communicate cooperatively with peers and routinely communicate with supervisor by keeping supervisor informed of results, problems and suggesting corrective actions for assigned tasks.
  • Provide supervised technical support on a given project team for all activities and maintain timelines for on-going projects.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor in related field; with 1 – 3 years of experience preferred;
  • Master in related field; with 0 – 1 years of experience preferred;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Good writing and speaking skills in English;
  • Available on short notice for a fulltime employment through ASA Professionals.

If you intend to stay in the Netherlands for less than four months, registration in to the personal record database is not obligated. If you still want a citizen service number, you must register in the personal record database of the city you live in.

You need a valid ID, BSN number on an original document from either the Tax Authorities or City (Hall) you are registered in, and a European bank account number (IBAN) in your name.
